Are You Up For Anything?
A humbling idea occurred to me the other day:
virtually anything can happen at any moment, and everyone, every single one of us, can never really guarantee what.We are simply not in a position to make guarantees about what happens in our lives or in the lives of those around us. We simply don’t know.
virtually anything can happen at any moment, and everyone, every single one of us, can never really guarantee what.We are simply not in a position to make guarantees about what happens in our lives or in the lives of those around us. We simply don’t know.
This idea of endless possibilities expanded my
whole thought paradigm. It led me to think of how often we limit ourselves
and our thoughts, and how often we limit God in our thoughts, our actions. Are
our thoughts of God only limited to that which we expect of the ordinary? Of
the routine?
What if we expected more? Is how we think of God different? BIG? If He really is as BIG as we believe Him to be, do we believe that He can and
will do BIG things in our lives? Are we expectant of that? Are we prepared for
that? Perhaps the reason we do not experience as many miracles or supernatural
and extraordinary things is because we don’t even expect them to begin with. What
if you are called to baptize someone tomorrow morning after you step outside your
door? Or called to plant a church in a month’s time? It may not seem probable
to some, but its surely possible. If we are truly at His disposal, why not?
Peter reminds us in his first letter to always
be prepared to give an explanation for the hope that we have in Christ Jesus.
He reminds us that it is our responsibility as Christians to do so as our
worship of Christ. We should be constantly prepared, (and preparing) to give an
explanation for our hope. Brothers and sisters, our God is BIG. He surely can and will use you when you surrender, so let us, the humble servants, not
limit our omnipotent and Almighty God on how.
